The Economics Society of the University of Arizona (ESUA) provides students with a forum to learn more about economics and careers pursued by economics majors. The club meets every other Thursday at 6:30 pm in McClelland 133 throughout the semester. Meetings and special events are announced via the Econ Society listserv. To be added to the listserv, simply send your request to the Econ Society President at uaeconsociety@gmail.com.
At each meeting, the club hosts a speaker, who may be a UA graduate of economics speaking about their career, a UA professor or graduate student presenting their research, or other economics-related speakers. Past speakers have included consultants, business analysts, lawyers, visiting professors, Teach for America corps members, economic analysts, actuaries, and more! Our members are able to learn about potential careers in economics through our speakers, and many network with speakers and are introduced to internship and full time opportunities!
After the speaker, members enjoy free pizza and soda and are able to talk one-on-one with the guest speaker or mingle with other members. Econ Society members range from freshmen to seniors, Eller or SBS, and have taken a wide range of Economics classes and professors. Members exchange ideas about economic issues, course selection, applying to graduate school, careers, etc.
There are no membership dues or required attendance. This is the perfect club to get involved in if you love economics, or if you are just considering a major or minor in econ! There is no better way to network with alumni, interact with professors, and meet other economics students!
Be sure to attend the next Econ Society meeting and see what we're all about!
